Who started National Give Someone a Cupcake Day?
The National Give Someone a Cupcake Day goes back to an idea by the American Brad Adkins in 2019. In contrast to many other articles from the cake holidays calendar, the background to this culinary event is fairly well documented (see also the list of related links below).
The content of giving away a cupcake day is similar to the Canadian National Cupcake Day, which always falls on February 25 of the year. As a charity campaign by the Ontario SPCA Provincial Office in cooperation with various animal welfare organizations, it calls on people to buy or give away cupcakes to collect donations (see also the list of related links below). To what extent the US-American version of the Cupcake Day (English National Cupcake Day) played a role on December 15th remains unclear.
