The US is celebrating June 1st as its National Say Something Nice Day. A day to remember the beautiful effect of thanksgiving and compliments.
Background to National Say Something Nice Day
There are some weird and curious holidays in the United States that often not much is known about how they came about. In the case of the “Say Something Nice Day”, however, there is a story of its origins: The template for the day of compliments was the book by American communication expert Mitchell Carnell with the title “Say Something Nice: Be a Lifter at Work”. The mayors of the cities of North Charleston and Charleston have subsequently launched the day of action with the local parishes in order to remind people to be grateful and to express this every now and then.
